Magnum, R De Ruinart Champagne Magnum Brut Champagne NV 150cl , The chardonnay is the very soul of Ruinart. The grape, mainly harvested frome the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims terroirs, is at the heart of all our cuvées. R De Ruinart Magnum Brut Champagne NV 150cl Gift box (two bottle size).

The Chardonnay grape is the soul of Maison Ruinart. Its grapes, mainly from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, are at the heart of all its cuvées.

On the nose: fine and fruity. There are aromas of pear with clear flesh and dried fruits - hazelnut, almond. Then notes of white flowers, escorted with aromas of Viennese pastries and buttered brioche.

A bright and clear yellow color with gold reflections. Beautiful brightness, the effervescence is sustained, with a cord very present.

The first nose is fresh and fruity, with notes of white fruit (pear, pink apple), apricot and hazelnuts and fresh almonds. Some floral and spicy notes add extra complexity.

The second nose reveals a beautiful olfactory intensity, on a background more brioche and biscuit.

Attack in mouth very frank. A balanced wine, fairly round and fleshy on the attack with aromas of ripe fruit (queen-claude and brugnon). The finish is long, the dosage well integrated leaves room for a characteristic freshness of the chardonnay, very present in the assembly.

A perfect champagne for an aperitif in all circumstances, which can also be used as an appetizer on light and fine dishes such as poached oysters, scallops à la plancha or main dish on a sole meunière. It can also accompany local cheeses with a short ripening, like a Chaource or Langres very creamy.

A blend of 40% Chardonnay, 57% Pinot Noir and 3% Miller, and including 20-25% reserve wines from the previous 2 years.

Ruinart is Champagne’s oldest house, with a history that dates back to 1729. The wines are quite well-known around the world, but less so in the US, where the estate is making an effort to re-establish its presence. Today the wines are made under the guidance of Chef de Caves Frederic Panaiotis, who clearly has an outsize passion for these Champagnes as well as the house’s rich heritage. Although Ruinart is best known for their vintage Blanc de Blancs, the Rose is perhaps even more fascinating, particularly after a few years in bottle, which in important vintages allows for the Pinot Noir to speak with great eloquence. The Ruinart wines tend to be medium in body and are made with levels of dosage that are closer to the high end of the spectrum. Although the back labels show codes which can be tracked to disgorgement dates, it would be nice to see Ruinart provide disgorgement dates for its wines.

There are specific techniques that embody the history of Maison Ruinart and reveal the essential character fashioned by its exceptional expertise.

Among the seven grape varieties authorised under the rules protecting champagne production, the Chardonnay grape stands out for its sheer complexity. Its elegance and aromatic freshness make it the emblematic grape variety of Maison Ruinart.
