Taylors Late bottled vintage Port wine gift in a box, its concentrated fruity flavour and firm, full-bodied style make Taylors Late Bottle vintage the perfect port to accompany chocolate desserts and blue cheeses.
Tasting notes, Deep purple ruby in colour. Elegant, perfumed, floral nose, with notes of damsons, dark cherries and cassis. On the palate, dark chocolate, raspberries, cedar spice, a touch of leather and liquorice with elegant and well integrated tannins. True to the Taylor style, the wine shows great balance and finesse.
The winter preceding the was wetter and colder than the 30-year average. Budburst occurred as usual mid- March and warm weather and rainfall in April produced vigorous growth. At the beginning of May dry conditions set in and there was little rainfall in eastern areas of the Douro until late August.
However the vines were able to draw from the plentiful ground water reserves built up during the previous winter and bunches developed and ripened in ideal conditions.
Véraison occurred a little earlier than usual on 15th June. Mild weather in June and July was broken only by a heat wave in the second half of June. August was hot and dry, with perfectly timed rainfall on 21st August and 1st September rounding off an excellent ripening season and producing a well- balanced crop.

Late Bottled Vintage, as the name suggests, is bottled later, remaining in wood between four and six years. During this relatively long period of wood ageing, an LBV matures and settles down - it is ready to drink when bottled, does not need to be decanted and can be served by the glass for several weeks after the cork is drawn. LBV was developed as a high quality but more affordable and immediately drinkable alternative to Vintage port to be enjoyed by the glass on everyday occasions. It was originally created in 1970 by Taylor’s current Chairman, Alistair Robertson. Although many other houses now offer this wonderful style of wine, Taylor’s LBV, the original Late Bottled Vintage, remains the benchmark in the category; the first choice of the knowledgeable Port drinker.
