Chateau Beychevelle 1961 vintage St Julien.

Tasting notes, Neal Martin, 92-94 points
One of the first 1961 clarets that I tasted and a sublime experience it was too. A beautiful, subtle nose of cedar and leather. Not complex but well-defined and unreservedly "classic". The palate still has firm tannins backed with ample sweet red fruit entwined with an earthy/cigar-box flavour. Not a profound 1961 but a lovely gentle wine that's aging gracefully.

Chateau Beychevelle 1961 wine St Julien. Truffles, earth, tobacco, cassis, stone, and scents of roses were easy to detect. Sweet, soft, elegant and fresh in the mouth, this delightful, fully mature Bordeaux wine ended with a long cassis, spice and cold steel filled finish.
