1970 Taylor's Port wine Single Harvest
Often referred to as Colheitas, these one-harvest Tawny ports are a far cry from a vintage port with prolonged and gentle ageing in oak casks creating ports of extreme aromatic complexity with delightfully mellow structures. And the 1970 Port vintage was of one outstanding quality - ideal growing conditions produced what is now a classic vintage - universally declared by all the major port houses.
Taylor's holds one of the most needed reserves of old barrels aged Port of any maker. They include a collection of Single Harvest Ports. These are Ports from a one year old to complete ready in seasoned wood casks and display the 1970year of harvest on the label. Each year, Taylor's has decided to make a limited release of a Harvest Port made 53 years ago. The 7th in the series is the 1970 wine Harvest.
Tasting Notes
Pale mahogany core surrounded by a broad yellow-gold rim with subtle olive highlights. On first impression, the wine is lifted and ethereal but soon begins to unfurl layer after layer of multi-dimensional aroma. First to emerge are sawn wood and cigar leaf notes against cedar, balsam and citrus background.
