This is the heartland of Primitivo, famed for generous, concentrated wines from old unirrigated bush vines.
Produced from the local Primitivo variety cultivated in the Salento peninsula of the Puglia region, southern Italy. Grapes were sourced from selected vineyards between 20 and 60 years old and hand harvested in early September. Fermentation took place at 28 to 30C with daily pumping over and 10 days contact with the skins. After malolactic fermentation the wine was bottled without oak aging
A warm, richly flavoured red with aromas of blackberries, dried fruits and sweet spices. On the palate it displays plum and black cherry fruit and hints of dried figs, with ripe tannins balanced by fresh acidity.
