ORIGIN : D. O. Calificada Rioja TYPE : Red; Gran Reserva VARIETIES : Tempranillo (100 %) from vineyards older than 30 years. ORIGIN OF THE GRAPES Vineyards: Propietary vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, La Rioja. Average yield: 30 Hls./Ha. Date of harvest: first fortnight October 2001. Manually selected clusters with further selection in the winery by means of a sorting table. VINIFICATION Traditional, 100% de-stemmed. Pre-fermentative cold soak for 48 hours with pump-overs. Fermentation controlled between 28 and 32º C with selected yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) during 8 days. Extended maceration on the skins for 21 days, with two pump-overs daily in the beginning with a light pump-over daily the last ten days. STABILIZATION Cold stabilized AGING Barrel: 24 months in Bordeaux barrels of American oak. Age of the barrels: 25 % new oak, 75 % maximum of 3 wines. Racked regularly every 4 months during the first year and every 6 during the second. Bottle: Bottled without filtration December 2006 VINTAGE Official qualification: Very Good Winery Qualification: Very Good-Excellent Weather: Superb climatic and sanitary conditions in the vineyard. Gentle autumn and winter, with some frost in November and a cold spring led to reduced clusters with smaller berries and an overall absence of disease. Progressive increase of the temperatures accompanied by abundant rains in the month of July favored the vegetative growth of the grape. Moderate temperatures and little rain during harvest. TASTING NOTES Color: intense ruby with a medium-high intensity, covered with yellow and garnet tones. Very clean. Aroma: powerful and complex in nose, highlights of red fruits with elegant notes of red fruits, spices, balsamic, vanilla and a rich aroma of toasted oak. In mouth: smooth, ample, elegant, fresh, complex and with an excellent structure and great equilibrium with a pleasant presence of ripe tannins. The finish leaves mineral notes, spices and red ripe fruit and liquor finely integrated with balsamic, coffee and toasted touches. PRESENTATION Bottle: Traditional Bordelais, 750 mL, green with U.V. filter. Cork: 100% natural of the highest quality. 49 mm long, washed and sterilised. Label: Recyclable paper printed with ecological ink (without heavy metals), with indication of capacity, alcohol content, origin and harvest. Seal of guarantee from the Consejo Regulador D.O.C. Rioja WINEMAKER Marcos Eguren RECOMMANDATIONS Conservation: constant temperatures lower than 14º C; humidity at 80%. Dark storage Consumption: Temperature of service: 18º C. It is recommended to decant the bottle between 15 minutes to half an hour before serving. Consumption: best between 2007 and 2020. Recommended pairings: Red meats, roasts, stews and all types of game, cured cheeses and foie.
