Bollinger RD 1996 vintage Champagne wooden gift box. R.D. (Recently Disgorged) is unique both in its concept and style. Before it eventually becomes an RD, this wine is originally a Grande Annee - the prestige cuvee of Bollinger - yet a Grande Annee which has matured in our cellars for a much longer period, from 8 to 20 years, sometimes more. The grapes come exclusively from Grands and Premiers Crus. 17 villages have entered the 1996 blend, 82% from Grands Crus and 18% from Premier Crus. RD is exclusively produced with wines from the cuvee juice.
Hailed as the best vintage since 1928, 1996 is ideally suited to the powerfully expressive style of RD. An attractive toasty nose, with notes of roasted nuts and summer fruit leads on to an explosion of flavour on the palate with the savoury and the sweet harmoniously harnessed followed by a majestic finish.This is an exceptional RD, powerful enough to match a variety of dishes and, needless to say, superb on its own.
